My sister loves the band so it was a good giftThis album is brilliant. By far the best I've heard all year. NF has this way of making you connect emotionally, when sometimes you just rather wouldn't. Listening to his new music is a weird process for me. I literally feel the need to guard my heart, a game of emotional strength I like to play, and one which I always lose. I really don't know why I even bother to try anymore. Of the 8 emotions we can feel as a human, he's utterly relentless in making you identify with all. His bars are tight as always, and he definitely gets more experimental in Perception with how he delivers them. 16 tracks, and with complete honesty, I skip through 2. I'm not going to say which 2, because if you've listened to Nate before, you have no trouble distinguishing when he's feeling it AND when he's not. I could seriously write a thesis on how much I love this record, but I am only going to review my favorite song and why.'Dreams', to me, crafts the act of letting go, and how much it costs us emotionally to do that. I love how the lyrics are hidden inside the illusion of something soothing and chill, yet so much more below the surface. Dream-like vibes were captured w/ perfection. The feeling of being abandoned, rejected, neglected, particularly by family, is pain that cuts deep, and is thoroughly explored on his other albums. But when you find yourself at a crossroad in life knowing the decision to abandon, reject, or neglect, particularly family, in order to move forward in a healthy way... it cuts so much deeper. The weight of carrying that is more destructive than what was ever done TO you, IMO. It can break the identity of who you are, and it's one of the scariest risks we can take as humans."If you think I'm 'bout to change who I am just for you, then you're so wrong"-a boundary delivered with such absolute directness and confident assurance, reveals only to those who have been here before, the conflicting fear, guilt, and doubt on the flip-side of this self-affirmation. Feelings that can only be quieted with time, seeing the fruit of seeds we have planted, and the ability to connect with those moments when they happen. This song is not only beautiful and important to me...but also extremely relevant. It shows the metamorphosis of what it's like to become an adult. That "I'm just doing me" is a perfectly acceptable place to be, and very much needed in order to discover who we will be.Perception's lyrics will take weeks of reflection to truly comprehend how magnificent they are, which equals weeks of heavy play rotation. This album is worth every penny and then some. Listening to NF is an adventure. You don't know where you're going to end up, but you can bet your a** it will be REAL journey.I loved it , thank you for the great customer service.I grew up inner city and spent over 16 years of my life running a pro training camp for boxers while coaching an amateur program made up of mostly at-risk youth from the same gang filled city. I got saved and didn't want to hear the negative junk that was out so found talented artist like T-Bone, Antonious, Mr. Real, etc, to play in the gym for rhythm while training then Grapetree Records basically disappeared. Hard to compete with the devil who rules the industry. I have an eclectic taste in music and hadn't listened to ANY rap in a long time until one of my nephews sent me one of DF's songs in a message recently knowing what I like. At first I thought he was just imitating Eminem, who's probably the best mainstream lyricist on the planet right now, but this kid is the real deal. His writing/rapping/singing ability, life story, and willingness to not sell out to mainstream for the money separates him IMO. Hard to believe this is only his 3rd album. I just bought all 3 too. I'm impressed and that's coming from someone that was in high school when hip-hop hit the scene. If only guys like DMX would get real with God like this multitudes would be effected. So many, including myself, can relate to their life stories. This is a great buy if you appreciate true talent that's clean. If I had a son or daughter that liked rap I'd load him up with it. Peace! There is a lot of debate on how the music has changed in the last decade or so. On one hand, the artist has gained more control and can freely release music at a faster rate with less regulation from major labels. Of course one major drawback to that lack of label involvement has been a question of quality control. Front-to-back, quality-filled albums with zero filler are a rarity these days. That's where NF's Perception comes in....NF's third full length album sets a new bar for rappers in terms of quality and content. His debut album, Mansion, showed us he had exceptional flow and a gift for conveying emotion through personal experience. Therapy Session took that a bit further by upping the intensity even more and got the worlds attention with a few singles that went viral online. Perception feels like the same artist, but shows growth in almost every sense of the word. NF's rapping has gotten even better, his singing voice sounds strong, the songs themselves are more memorable, the production quality is top notch, and there isn't a weak track to be found here. NF has raised the quality bar for a Hip Hop album this year that will be hard to match. You can tell that every moment on Perception was thought about carefully and every decision was made intentionally. I would name off standout tracks but naming every song on the album would seem pointless. All I will say is listen to it from beginning to end and you'll be floored by the quality the entire way through.Love itNF has made me an instant fan! After one song I was so amazed at how far ahead NF is to MOST rappers in the game. There isn't one rapper in the game today that gives me goosebumps during and after a song. NO RAPPER at all!!! I love music but even more when you can relate to lyrics. TOOL would be one of my favorite bands and I think NF has gone up there in my best band category as well. This guy talks REAL not about money they have, women they can get, the cars they drive, the guns they have, killers the have on standby, girls they cheat with, and most importantly the clueless lyrics that mean NOTHING!! That has always been my thought about this new Rap Game. No one is talking about anything relatable or inspiring. A few artist are don't get me wrong. All I am saying is if you haven't heard of NF.... DO YOURSELF AND YOUR MIND a big favor and just listen to the lyrics of this game changing artist. Nuff Said!!!
